Do Something Now There are so many things you can do to help stop this tolling and privatization madness that afflicts Indiana. Most take little to no time at all. Stop the ICC Yard Signs available at cost ( $3) Johnson County: Contact Information We have gathered the contact information for local, state, and national elected officials throughout the proposed Toll Road counties. Scroll down and click on the city or county from the list in the right column. Get Informed and Stay Informed Bookmark alltolled.com and check back regularly. We will continue to add information and to follow the 2007 Legislative Session where important decisions will be made about the future direction of our State. Sign up to get alltolled.com news and notices by email. This assures that when something important is about to happen, you will know about it. Just click on the 'Sign Up' Email Option to the right. Pay attention when your local TV or radio news show or newspaper has an article about the tolling and privatization of Indiana. A sometimes overwhelming amount of information is available on the Internet. We have included links to the original documents in the text on our webpages. Volumes of detailed information are available through the links on the right. If the spirit moves you, there is a ton of information just from the links we have provided on this site. Tell Everyone What You Think Tell your neighbors and friends about how the tolling and privatization decisions being made RIGHT NOW will affect the taxes and quality of life no only for them, but their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Mitch is selling Hoosier assets for quick cash now, that will be spent in 10 years, while future generations will still be paying the piper. Write letters to the editor of your local newspaper. Check back here as we hope to have some examples. Many of the suburban papers allow rather lengthy articles. Larger papers, however, prefer to publish letters about 200 or so words. So, get in, say what you think, and get out. More people will read short pieces. Papers will generally allow one person to post a letter to the editor about once a month. Remember: Politicians READ LETTERS TO THE EDITOR. Many online versions of newspapers now have blog-type sections where you can express your opinion about a news item or the opinions express by an editorial writer or columnist. Log on and type in a paragraph of comments. Call or write your local elected officials. We have a list of local officials for communities along the Indy ByPass Toll Road and Illiana Toll Road routes. The Governor is busy trying to rein in the city and town officials all along the routes now. Let them know what you think. Tell them to take a position against these boondoggles. Go to your local Council meeting and speak up during the public comment periods. Email us and we will post upcoming meetings in our Calendar section and send out the notice to our email list so that others can attend as well. Call or write your state and national elected officials. We have already prepared a listing of them, as well as a link to the state's website where you can find out who represents you. Show Up, Join Up and Be Counted Plan to attend one meeting or hearing. If you sign up for our email list we will keep you informed about upcoming meetings of local groups, legislative hearings, INDOT hearings, and meet-&-greets set up by your Legislators. There is no better way to show how important your opinion is than by showing up at a hearing; even if you do not speak ! Join a local group and help them get the word out. Even if your schedule does not allow you to attend many or any meetings, your membership adds clout to that group. In coming days we will be posting an online petition. Come back and sign it. The 2007 is a long session of the Legislature. We will see them grinding through bills through to April 29. Pace yourself, but commit to participating when you can. Check back with us or sign up for our email list and find out when we will hold a rally at the Statehouse. Plan to attend. That type of event has a broad affect on Legislators, the media, and Hoosier public opinion. Looking Forward We are going to be here. Check back and help put Indiana on a Common Sense course for all of our futures. You CAN make a difference bookmark alltolled.com and visit us often |
